Breaking 50 poem

It seems that you’ve hit fifty at one hell of a pace
Perhaps that’s why they call it the "Human Race".

So time to slow down and give it a rest,

At fifty years old you’re not at your best!

Too young to just sit or potter around,

Too old to sneak in and not make a sound.

Your bones may ache, your muscles complain,

For over half a century they’ve taken the strain.

But fifty now days is not really old,

(though wrinkles appear and you may have gone bald).

It merely denotes a shift in your view,

When children now say ‘Old’ they’re referring to you.

But now’s not the time to get morose or depressed,

For many; middle age is often the best.

The time to be glad for all that they’ve done,

To cherish the time they spent having fun.

To plan for tomorrow - the dreams yet to see.

And praise the Lord you're not yet sixty!
